Recognise When to Change

In a Content in Business Spotlight Session, Jake Rudge, Marketing Manager at Metpro Group, gave this bit of advice:

“Be curious. Don't limit yourself to one set style of marketing, or one type of activity.

“Something may have worked before, many times, but it might not always work. There's always a different angle to take, I'd always encourage people to listen and learn as much as they possibly can. Watch and read as much content as they can. You'll be surprised where ideas can come from.”

Ryan Holiday, author and host of the Daily Stoic Podcast often says “Not all readers lead, but all leaders read”, and I think this perfectly echoes what Jake says here. It’s no surprise that Jake himself is also a Stoic (as am I).

Continuing the Stoic theme is the recognition of humility - which is important in the willingness to recognise when change is needed. When what you once knew worked is no longer the case. Another Stoic quote, from Epictetus: “It is impossible to learn what you think you already know”.

Consume as much content as you can, so that you’re armed with the knowledge and inspiration to then take action and make a change - don’t let yourself get stuck flogging the same horse.

The guest’s quote has been taken from a podcast recording and edited for easier reader consumption.
